Her debut track Here came out in 2015. It received lots of attention and was well-liked by both listeners and critics. Cara is well-known for her ability to incorporate messages about mental health kindness and self-love into her songs. The inspiration for her music is derived from her own struggle to conquer mental health issues as well as insomnia. In an Reuters interview she describes her album as half tumultuous and half complete. The singer says that she found her growth in therapy. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since the year 1996. Her parents come from Italian heritage. When she was 10 years old, her parents bought her a guitar, which was the foundation of her passion for music. In the age of 13she began covering songs she liked on YouTube to prove to the public that she was talented and had the courage to go after a career as a musician. Sweater Weather is one of these covers which led to her being discovered at the time by EP Entertainment. This record label gave her the opportunity to create new songs of her own.
